Taipei, May 25 (CNA) Guam Governor Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero arrived in Taiwan on Sunday for her first visit since taking office as head of the U.S. territory's government in 2019, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
During her stay from Sunday through Saturday, Guerrero will meet with President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍), and attend banquets hosted by the two, MOFA said in a press release.
Guerrero and Lai last met in December 2024, when Lai made an overnight stopover in the territory as part of a seven-day trip to the South Pacific -- his first official visit abroad after taking office in May of that year.
While in Taiwan, the Guam governor will visit the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and meet with several local mayors, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said.
She will also attend the Taipei Tourism Exposition and promote exchanges with Taiwan in tourism, healthcare, agriculture and fisheries to foster closer bilateral cooperation across various sectors, it added.
