Unification guidelines designed to please KMT old guard: Lee Teng-hui

The 1991 Guidelines for National Unification, which provide steps Taiwan should take to achieve the ultimate unification of Taiwan and China, were meant to appease the old guard of the ruling Kuomintang (KMT) of that time, ex-President Lee Teng-hui said Tuesday.
