São Paulo, July 25 (CNA) Taiwanese pastry student Lee Che-wei (李哲瑋) won a silver medal on Friday at the 2025 UIBC Junior World Championship of Confectioners in São Paulo, Brazil.

Lee, who is studying in the Department of Food Science and Technology at Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology, was coached by Yu Lung-hung (游隆宏), an assistant professor-level technical specialist, during the championship held by the International Union of Bakers and Confectioners (UIBC) from July 21 to 25 in São Paulo

He previously competed in multiple international contests and won gold at the 2024 IKA Culinary Olympics in Germany.

Angeles Chu (朱怡靜), head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brazil in São Paulo, delivered her congratulations to Lee in person at the event on behalf of the government.

Chu said the silver medal is the best recognition of Lee's dedication following long hours of training and countless practice runs.

"This honor not only opens the door for Lee to the international stage, but also showcases Taiwan's strength and potential in the field of baking arts to the world," she said.
