Crime series lead Golden Bell Awards television nominations

Taipei, Aug. 28 (CNA) Taiwanese television crime series "The World Between Us" (我們與惡的距離) led the number of nominations at the 54th Golden Bell Awards in the category of television with a total of 14 nods on Wednesday.

"The World Between Us" gained a nomination for best television series in the program awards, in addition to gaining nominations for best actress and actor in the roles played by Alyssa Chia (賈靜雯) and Wu Kang-ren (吳慷仁), respectively.

The series, which had a budget of NT$43 million (US$1.39 million), describes the aftermath of a mass-shooting that intertwines the fates of multiple characters including the killer, victims, the victims' families and the media.

Other nominations include best supporting actress for Pets Tseng's (曾沛慈) role in the series, and three best supporting actors nods for Honduras (洪都拉斯), James Wen (溫昇豪), and JC Lin (林哲熹).

The series also received recognition for best writing and best director for a television series.

Meanwhile, the TV series "Utopia For The 20s," "Survive," and "A Taiwanese Tale of Two Cities" all received 6 nominations, while "A Taste to Remember" received five.

Television hosts Mickey Huang (黃子佼), Jacky Wu (吳宗憲), and Hao Tzu (浩子) from the group Plungon all received nominations for best variety show host, and best game and reality show host.

The 2019 Golden Bell Awards for television will be held on Oct. 5 at National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei.
