Taipei, June 5 (CNA) Jensen Huang (黃仁勳), founder and CEO of American AI chip designer Nvidia Corp., said on Friday that his company has arranged to boost capacity in the second half of this year to next year to meet the strong demand expected at that time.

Before boarding his private jet at the Songshan Airport in Taipei to wrap up a 14-day trip to Taiwan, Huang told reporters that Nvidia has already raised its capacity "by 2x for the second half" of this year.

"Capacity is tight all over the supply chain and the reason for that is because the demand is so strong and we're growing so fast," Huang said.

Nvidia's AI computing Grace Blackwell platform has been in high volume production, and mass production of the next generation Vera Rubin platform is just starting, Huang said, and he warned suppliers of what to expect in 2027.

"The second half of next year is going to be so much bigger than this year and so everybody must be prepared," Huang said.

Huang arrived in Taipei on May 23 to meet with Nvidia's suppliers in Taiwan such as contract chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) and AI server maker Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., while attending Nvidia GTC Taipei and Computex Taipei.

As usual, Huang again praised Taiwan, saying it played a critical role of AI development during the current new computer revolution.

"I'm very grateful that everybody has supported our success and so when we create this new industry, it's going to be trillions of dollars of computing that has to be produced," Huang said.

Huang flew to South Korea after departing from Taiwan, his second visit to the East Asia country in eight months.

According to Huang, Nvidia is a "direct purchaser" of memory chips, with its systems integrated with memory chips. He admitted that with demand so strong, memory capacity throughout the supply chain has been very tight.

"We have very important partners and excellent partners in Korea," Huang said.
