U.S. dollar closes sharply higher on Taipei forex market

Taipei, Jan. 5 (CNA) The U.S. dollar rose sharply against the Taiwan dollar Monday, gaining NT$0.119 to close at NT$31.538.

Turnover totaled US$1.497 billion during the trading session.

The greenback opened at NT$31.420, and moved between NT$31.371 and NT$31.546 before the close.
