Taipei, Nov. 4 (CNA) Taiwan ranked 10th globally in the 2025 IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking released Tuesday by the Switzerland-based International Institute for Management Development (IMD).
The ranking assessed 69 economies on their ability to adapt to, explore, and benefit from digital transformation, based on three key factors -- knowledge, technology, and future readiness -- comprising nine subfactors and 61 indicators.

Among the three factors, Taiwan performed best in future readiness, rising three places to third globally, while ranking 11th in technology (down four places) and 16th in knowledge (up three places).
Taiwan ranked first globally in IT and media stock market capitalization as a share of GDP, and second in R&D personnel per capita, agility of companies, and total R&D expenditure as a percentage of GDP.
Taiwan also ranked third in mathematics education performance, tertiary education attainment, corporate responsiveness to opportunities or threats, and the use of big data analytics in decision-making.
In response, Taiwan's Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) said these strengths provide a solid foundation for the development of the artificial intelligence (AI) industry and the nation's ongoing digital transformation.
The ministry said Taiwan's progress in future readiness also reflects the competitiveness of local enterprises and the government's achievements in public-private collaboration and data privacy protection.
MODA added that it will continue to work with other agencies to refine relevant laws and issue guidelines to strengthen AI governance and raise Taiwan's international visibility in digital policy and innovation.
According to the IMD report, Switzerland, the United States, and Singapore are the top three digitally savvy nations.
