TSMC applies for permanent China chip waiver from U.S.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the world's largest contract chipmaker, said Friday it is in the process of applying for a permanent waiver from the U.S. government on semiconductor equipment supplied to its operations in China.
