New Taipei deputy mayor resigns to run for city's KMT candidate

New Taipei Deputy Mayor Hou You-yi (侯友宜) announced his resignation Wednesday, saying that he will take part in the opposition Kuomintang (KMT) primary to select the party's candidate for the next New Taipei mayoral election, set for November.
