HTC's November sales down 40% from year earlier level

2015/12/04 18:33:44

Taipei, Dec. 4 (CNA) Taiwan-based HTC Corp. (宏達電) saw its consolidated sales in November increase 15 percent from a month earlier but slump 39 percent from a year earlier to NT$10.29 billion, the smartphone vendor reported on Friday.

The month-on-month sales growth was largely due to the company's launch of its latest mid-range HTC One A9 model, but it wasn't enough to stem HTC's year-long sales decline.

In the first eleven months of this year, HTC's consolidated revenue totaled NT$115.17 billion, down 33 percent from the same period in 2014.

Chang Chia-lin (張嘉臨), chief financial officer and president of global sales at HTC, predicted that the company would not swing to profit in the fourth quarter.

But he expected losses during the October-December period could be smaller than that incurred in the previous quarter due to signs that the company's operations are improving.
