London, June 18 (CNA) Amis artist, DJ and music producer Dungi Sapor (汝妮) will begin a U.K. tour on Friday, bringing performances that combine traditional Amis chants and melodies, experimental electronic soundscapes and dance to audiences in Sheffield, Bristol and London.
According to event co-organizer Kakilang, a London-based East and Southeast Asian contemporary arts organization, Dungi will take part in the opening performance of the Migration Matters Festival in Sheffield on Friday.
She will also hold performances designed as immersive and interdisciplinary soundscape experiences at arts venues in Bristol on Saturday and London next Wednesday, said Kakilang.
In addition to the performances, Dungi will hold a listening and discussion session next Tuesday at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, it said.
Each stop on the tour will also feature DJs from different countries and cultural backgrounds, whose performances will explore the themes of cultural exchange and transnational movement, Kakilang said.
At the SOAS event, Dungi will join Vietnamese British sound artist, curator and researcher Cường Minh Bá Phạm, also known as DJ and radio host Phambinho, for a discussion on sound, cultural memory and archives.
The 11th annual Migration Matters Festival will take place in Sheffield from Friday to next Saturday, which will also feature a performance by Kaohsiung-based Neo-Classical Chamber Ensemble.
This year's edition marks the first time Taiwanese artists and performing groups have been invited to take part in the festival.
