Taiwan shares end down ahead of 8,500 points

Shares in Taiwan closed lower Thursday after stiff technical resistance ahead of the 8,500-point level eroded earlier gains at a time when investors were cautious about the upcoming earnings season at home and on Wall Street, dealers said.
