Taipei, March 18 (CNA) The 2025 Red Bull BC One Cypher Taiwan, the country's largest breaking qualifier, is set to take place in Taipei on April 12, featuring Olympian B-Boy "Quake" Sun Chen (孫振) on the judging panel.
Sixteen B-Boys and eight B-Girls selected from 200 competitors in the preliminary rounds will battle at Legacy TERA in Nangang District for spots in the World Final in Tokyo this November.
Sun, the 2024 Outbreak Europe champion, will be joined on the judging panel by legendary South Korean B-Boy Hong10, a three-time world champion, and Japanese B-Boy Nicolas.
In an interview with the event organizer, Sun said he looks forward to seeing Taiwanese breakers push their limits as the star-studded judging panel makes the competition even more unpredictable.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old said he has no plans to retire anytime soon.
"I want to keep dancing. Hopefully, I can achieve even better results on the international stage and earn another wild card," he was quoted as saying.
Sun was Taiwan's sole representative in breaking at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, where the sport made its Olympic debut.
Following the Olympics, he reached the final of The Notorious IBE before securing the Outbreak Europe 2024 championship for his first world-class title.
That victory ultimately earned him a wild card entry to the Red Bull BC One World Final.
