Taipei, Sept. 29 (CNA) Taiwan's female shooters clinched a team bronze in the 10-meter air pistol event at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Friday, Taiwan's first medal in shooting at the 19th edition of the competition.

The result was decided by the total scores of three competitors from each country in the 10m air pistol women's qualification round, where each shooter has to complete 60 shots in 75 minutes, with the top eight shooters advancing to the individual final.

Taiwan's shooters combined for 1,723 points, the third highest point total overall, led by Wu Chia-ying's (吳佳穎) 578 points, the sixth highest score in the qualification round.

The other two Taiwanese, Liu Heng-yu (劉恆妤) and Yu Ai-wen (余艾玟), racked up 574 and 571 points to placed 14th and 19th, respectively, among the 42 competitors from 14 countries.

The women's team gold and silver medals went to China and India, which scored 1,736 and 1,731 points, respectively.

In the women's individual final, Wu scored 199.3 points in 20 attempts to finish fourth.

"I have no regrets even though I came close [to winning a medal]. I still have room for improvement, but just making it to the final round was not easy," Wu was quoted as saying in a post by her social media account.

India's Palak Gulia and Esha Singh secured gold and silver with 242.1 and 239.7 points, respectively, while third place went to Kishmala Talat from Pakistan, who had 218.2 points.
