Taipei, Aug. 25 (CNA) A house fire in Yunlin County's Lunbei Township early Tuesday left two people under emergency treatment and another slightly injured, authorities said.

The Yunlin County Fire Department said in a statement that it received a report of thick smoke billowing from a one-story house on Minzhu Road at 5:51 a.m.

Firefighters rescued three people from the building, including a 90-year-old woman surnamed Hsu (徐) who suffered minor injuries and was conscious.

A 55-year-old woman surnamed Chen (陳) and a 62-year-old man surnamed Lee (李) were initially found without vital signs but regained a pulse after emergency treatment.

All three remain hospitalized, the department said.

The fire department said the fire spread across an area of about 50 square meters, adding that it had notified the Lunbei Township Office and the county's Social Affairs Department for assistance.

The extent of property damage and the cause of the fire are being investigated.
