Taipei, June 5 (CNA) Traffic controls will be in place around Taipei's Ketagalan Boulevard beginning Friday night to accommodate the second annual "Taiwan Let's Play Day," which will transform the area in front of the Presidential Office into a large outdoor playground for children on Saturday.
According to Taipei police, Ketagalan Boulevard between Zhongshan South Road and Gongyuan Road will be closed in both directions from 10 p.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. on Sunday to facilitate event setup and dismantling of the event.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes, including Qingdao West Road, Changde Street, Guiyang Street and Aiguo West Road. Traffic updates will also be broadcast through police radio services.
If the event is postponed due to rain, the same traffic controls will be implemented from June 19 to June 21, according to Taipei's Department of Transportation.
Organized by the Public Parks for Children Coalition, the event will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday on Ketagalan Boulevard between Gongyuan Road and Zhongshan South Road.
According to the organizers, this year's event will focus on building children's psychological resilience by encouraging exploration, creativity and confidence through play.
Activities will include water play, bubble games, painting, cardboard creations, parkour challenges, balance-bike riding and reading activities.
Admission is free, with no advance registration required. Attendance, however, will be capped at 900 participants, with entry granted on a first-come, first-served basis, the coalition said.
