Taipei, Nov. 23 (CNA) Temperatures will rise across Taiwan on Sunday before cooler, wetter conditions return to the north from Monday evening as northeast winds strengthen, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
With weakening seasonal winds and decreasing moisture, Taiwan will see mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies on Sunday, with brief showers limited to the north coast, the east, the Hengchun Peninsula in the south, and mountainous areas near Greater Taipei, the CWA said.
Daytime highs will reach 25-27 degrees Celsius in northern and eastern Taiwan, and 28-30 degrees in central and southern regions, the agency said.
The CWA said offshore islands will be mostly sunny, though some coastal areas may see strong winds or long waves, and fog could reduce visibility in central and southern Taiwan late Sunday into early Monday.
Moisture will increase slightly on Monday, bringing scattered daytime showers to northern and northeastern areas, forecasters said, adding that from Monday evening, strengthening northeasterly winds are expected to bring rain to more parts of northern Taiwan.
Temperatures will begin to fall Monday night, with lows of 14-16 degrees expected from late Tuesday into early Wednesday in northern, northeastern and central Taiwan, and 16-18 degrees in the south and east, the CWA said.
It forecast that the cooler mornings could persist through Friday.
