Taipei, July 11 (CNA) Brief sporadic showers and thunderstorms are expected in the western half of Taiwan on Friday due to a lingering low-pressure system, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
Heavy rainfall is likely in parts of central and southern Taiwan before noon Friday, the CWA said, adding that the wet weather is expected to gradually ease nationwide during the night.
Meanwhile, temperatures across Taiwan are expected to range from highs of 30-31 degrees Celsius to lows of 23-26 degrees on Friday, the CWA said. Highs of 28-30 are forecast for the outlying Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu islands, it said.
Going into the weekend, cloudy skies with occasional sunshine can be expected nationwide on Saturday, according to independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮).

On Sunday, the weather will be hot and sunny, he said, advising the public to take precautions against sunburn and heatstroke.
In mountainous areas of Taiwan, however, there is a chance of brief afternoon showers and thunderstorms on Sunday, Wu said.
From Monday to Thursday, cloudy to sunny skies are likely to prevail, with the possibility of brief afternoon showers in central and southern areas of the country, he said.
