Man sentenced to 40 months for child pornography

Taipei, Jan. 18 (CNA) The Supreme Court has recently dismissed an appeal from a man sentenced to three years and four months in prison for luring minors into producing explicit photos and videos of themselves.

The sentence is final and cannot be further appealed.

The man, surnamed Su (蘇), befriended two minors on Facebook, and lured them to produce explicit photos and videos of themselves in exchange for gaming points between July and September 2022.

A third minor was given the same instructions but she did not comply.

The case was brought to light when one of the victims' mothers found suspicious dialogue on the child's social media and reported it to her school and police.

In February 2024, Su was found guilty of two counts of violating the Child and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act and one count of attempted offence of the same act and given a prison sentence of three years and four months.

The Taichung District Court said that Su's actions were detrimental to the minors' physical and mental development, as well as the cultivation of their values, according to the verdict.

In September that year, Su's appeal was dismissed by the Taiwan High Court Taichung Branch Court, as they found no fault in the district court's ruling.
