Taipei, April 1 (CNA) Sunny to partly cloudy weather is expected across Taiwan April 2-5, during most of the Qingming Festival, after a weather front weakens Saturday night, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).

The weather front, which moved in from southern China on March 30, brought rainfall to most areas of Taiwan on Saturday, the first day of the five-day Qingming Festival, which marks Children's Day on April 4 and Tomb Sweeping Day on April 5.

In the CWB's forecast, it said the chances of rain north of Miaoli on Saturday was 70 percent, in Yilan 80 percent, in Hualien and Taitung 50 percent, and in central Taiwan 30-40 percent.

Sporadic rainfall can also be expected in mountainous areas of southern Taiwan during the day, the CWB said.

On Saturday, daytime temperatures will range between 17- 21 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan and 23-25 degrees in central and southern areas, the bureau said.

As the weather front continues to move eastwards, the rain will ease across the country, starting Saturday night, the CWB said.

From April 2-5, mostly sunny weather, with some periods of cloudy skies, can be expected, and brief rain showers may fall in mountainous areas, it said.

During that four-day period, daytime temperatures are expected to rise again to 23- 25 degrees in northern Taiwan and 25-30 degrees in the rest of the country, the bureau said.

On April 5, another weather front will arrive late in the day, bringing showers to northern and eastern regions and in the mountainous areas of central Taiwan, the CWB said.
