American, Singaporean tourists injured in Hualien tour bus accident

Taipei, Aug. 8 (CNA) A tour bus carrying 10 American and Singaporean tourists was involved in a traffic accident in Hualien County on Thursday, resulting in minor injuries to the passengers.

The driver drove the bus through a road divider into oncoming traffic at the 191.5 kilometer mark of Provincial Highway 9, according to Hualien County Fire Department.

The accident took place at around 5 p.m., as the bus was heading to Hualien City from Taroko National Park.

At the time, the bus was carrying 10 foreign tourists, and three Taiwan nationals, including the driver, a tour guide and an assistant.

The injured are currently being treated at three different hospitals in the county.

The local police department said the investigation is continuing and the cause of the accident has yet to be determined.
