Gyeongju, South Korea, Oct. 31 (CNA) Taiwan's envoy to the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, Lin Hsin-i (林信義), exchanged views with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Friday, according to Taiwan's delegation.

Lin met with Bessent on the sidelines of the annual event to discuss issues related to technology policy, talent cultivation, and supply chain cooperation, a member of Taiwan's APEC delegation told CNA.

During their talk, Lin thanked U.S. President Donald Trump's administration for promoting global peace and prosperity, and expressed Taiwan's appreciation for U.S. support for the bilateral partnership, calling it a key pillar of Indo-Pacific stability, the source said.

Lin also shared Taiwan's "model" of investment and emphasized the country's willingness to work with the U.S. to achieve shared economic prosperity, according to the source.

In a post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, the U.S. Treasury Department stated that Bessent spoke briefly with Lin, covering topics of mutual interest, including technology, resilient supply chains, and investments in the U.S.

Meanwhile, Takaichi posted a photo on X showing her interaction with Lin, with a caption saying they exchanged greetings in the lounge ahead of the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting.

Lin also congratulated Takaichi on becoming Japan's prime minister, Taiwan's delegation said.
