President Tsai expresses sadness at death of DPP founding member
Taipei, Feb. 9 (CNA) President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) on Saturday extended her condolences to the family of Huang Erh-hsuan (黃爾璇), a founding member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
Huang died from heart failure Saturday, his daughter confirmed. He was 83.
The president was saddened to learn that Huang had died and she said that the abiding faith in the idea of democracy he had throughout his life will be passed down from generation to generation, Presidential Office Spokesperson Xavier Chang (張惇涵), said in a statement Saturday night.
Huang served as the first secretary-general of the DPP and was three-term legislator from 1993 to 2002.
