DPP's Chang declares re-election victory in Chiayi County

Taipei, Nov. 29 (CNA) Incumbent Chiayi County Magistrate Chang Hwa-kuan of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) declared re-election victory as local media showed a wide lead ahead of rival Weng Chung-chun of the Kuomintang (KMT), according to TV vote counts.

A total of 430,505 people were eligible to vote in this year's county magistrate election.

Chang is the DPP-leaning county's first female magistrate.
