Taipei, Dec. 18 (CNA) A delegation led by Zhou Bo, executive vice mayor of Shanghai, is expected to arrive in Taipei Wednesday to attend the 2018 Taipei-Shanghai twin-city forum.

The forum, which kicks off that day and is scheduled to run through Friday in Taiwan's capital, has been an annual event since it was first held in 2010.

The delegation is expected to first visit Taiwanese electronics manufacturing company Delta Electronics, to be followed by a welcome reception that evening, which will feature speeches and exchanges of gifts between Zhou and Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲).

According to the Taipei City government, this year's forum will focus on the theme of a circular economy and cooperation between the two cities.

Taipei City Department of Urban Development Commissioner Lin Jou-min (林洲民) and Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission Vice Director Zhou Qiang are also expected to make circular economy-related speeches, the city government said.

Other focuses of the forum will be issues related to culture, environmental protection and urban renovation, it added.

Before embarking on the trip, Zhou told the media that the most important thing he wants to observe during his trip is the progress Taipei has made with its historical building protection and waste-sorting programs.
