Taipei, Nov. 15 (CNA) Lion Travel Service Co., Ltd. said Monday it is partnering with Taiwan-based Starlux Airlines to offer a special New Year's Day flight that will enable passengers to see the first sunrise of 2022 over Japan's Miyako Island.

On New Year's Day 2022, the New Year's Day First Sunrise Flight using Starlux's Airbus A321neo aircraft, which can carry up to 170-200 passengers, will take off from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at 5:30 a.m., said Lion Travel, one of Taiwan's largest travel agencies, in a statement.

Those on board will be able to watch the first sunrise of the year at 15,000 feet (4.572 kilometers) over Miyako, the company said.

Passengers can also enjoy a bird's-eye view of the beautiful East Rift Valley in eastern Taiwan before the flight returns to the Taoyuan airport at 8:30 a.m. on the New Year's Day, Lion Travel said.

During the three-hour flight, business class passengers will be served breakfast prepared by Longtail, a one-star Michelin restaurant, the company said.

Several types of snacks, such as honey cakes and pastries, will be available for all passengers, as will commemorative souvenirs from the airline, it added.
