Former legislator to announce KMT chair bid

Taipei, Feb. 22 (CNA) Former Kuomintang (KMT) Legislator Pan Wei-kang (潘維剛) said Wednesday that she will officially announce her bid for the KMT chairmanship at a press conference scheduled to take place Friday.

In addition to making a statement on her KMT chairmanship bid during the press conference, Pan said she will call on all former KMT members and members who have not paid their party dues to immediately resume their memberships and vote in the party's chairmanship election on May 20.

Pan, 59, will be the sixth hopeful to enter the race after former Vice President Wu Den-yih (吳敦義), KMT Vice Chairman Hau Lung-bin (郝龍斌), incumbent KMT Chairwoman Hung Hsiu-chu (洪秀柱), former Taipei Agricultural Products Marketing Corp. (TAPMC) President Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) and former KMT Vice Chairman Steve Chan (詹啟賢).
