Think tanks elect new chairmen

Taipei, Aug. 10 (CNA) Two private think tanks that are dedicated to the study of international affairs and have close links with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) elected new chairmen on Wednesday.

Former DPP Chairman Hsu Hsin-liang (許信良) was elected head of the Foundation on Asia-Pacific Peace Studies, while Chen Tang-shan (陳唐山), a minister of foreign affairs under the administration of former President Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁), was elected chairman of the Prospect Foundation.

Chen Tang-shan told CNA that his foundation will assist the government in promoting its foreign policy, with focus on the "New Southbound Policy."
