Taipei, June 26 (CNA) The Pingtung County government announced school and office closures for six townships on Saturday due to widespread flooding, while other parts of the county will operate as normal.
The affected townships are Donggang, Shinyuan, Nanzhou, Linbian, Kanding and Jiadong, where flooding continues to disrupt traffic, according to a statement issued Friday evening.
The county government said that under regulations governing work and class suspensions during natural disasters, people in areas not covered by the closure order may still decide not to go to work or school if flooding poses safety risks or raises concerns about potential hazards, and report the decision to their employer or school.
According to information provided by the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration, work and classes in Tainan and Kaohsiung will go ahead as normal on Saturday as conditions do not meet the criteria required for closures.
No other work and school closures had been announced so far by other municipalities as of press time.
