
Taipei, Jan. 11 (CNA) Sunny to cloudy skies can be expected across Taiwan on Sunday and into the next two days, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
Temperatures will remain chilly, however, in central, northern and northeastern parts of the country due to the lingering effects of a cold air mass, the CWA said Saturday.
It has also issued cold surge advisories, warning that temperatures may remain below 10 degrees Celsius in many parts of Taiwan until Sunday night.
An orange-level advisory is in effect for Taipei, New Taipei and Taoyuan cities, as well as Miaoli and Yilan counties, warning of "very cold" temperatures that may dip to 6 degrees or lower or remain at under 12 degrees for at least 24 hours.
The CWA also issued a yellow-level advisory for Hsinchu, Taichung, Changhua, Nantou, Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Kinmen, indicating "cold" conditions, with a possibility of temperatures dropping below 10 degrees.
The cold air mass is forecast to weaken Monday, with sunny to cloudy skies prevailing, the CWA said, adding that occasional brief showers can be expected in the east and southeast of the country.
Another cold front is forecast to arrive in Taiwan on Tuesday night, however, bringing lower temperatures and rain to north and northeast Taiwan, according to the CWA.
