Weather to remain cool, chance of rain
Taipei, Nov. 14 (CNA) Due to strengthening northeasterly winds, the weather across northern and eastern Taiwan will remain cool throughout Thursday, with nighttime lows expected to dip to 18 degrees Celsius, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
Scattered rain is also expected, particularly in northern and eastern cities and counties, the bureau said.
Daytime temperatures in northern Taiwan will range between 22-23 degrees, it said, adding that in other parts of the country, the mercury will hover around 26-30 degrees during the day.
However, the CWB advised people in the south to be prepared for a big day-night temperature differential, which could be more than 10 degrees.
Also, with intensifying northeasterly winds on Thursday, the weather bureau said that strong winds are expected in all parts of Taiwan north of Tainan.
Heavy seas are expected in coastal areas around the country, the CWB said.
Meanwhile, the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) said that air quality all over Taiwan will remain poor throughout the day, in particular in Yunlin and Chiayi counties, as the northeasterly winds bring atmospheric pollutants.
