Taipei, Oct. 21 (CNA) Presidential Adviser Lin Hsin-i (林信義), Taiwan's envoy to the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Gyeongju, South Korea, has been tasked with promoting three key messages on Taiwan's economic resilience, innovation, and people-centered artificial intelligence, President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) said Tuesday.

At a send-off news conference, Lai thanked Lin for again accepting the role, noting that his participation at last year's APEC summit in Lima, Peru, helped raise Taiwan's international visibility and strengthen cooperation with regional partners.

Lai said that since joining APEC in 1991, Taiwan has been an active and valued contributor to the regional bloc. This year's theme, "Building a Sustainable Tomorrow," focuses on connection, innovation, and shared prosperity--priorities that align closely with Taiwan's policy goals, he added.

The president outlined three main messages for Lin to convey at the summit.

First, Taiwan is committed to enhancing economic resilience and will continue working with partners to deepen regional trade and investment.

Second, Taiwan is moving from "manufacturing" to "creation" and is eager to share its experience of developing frontier industries such as semiconductors with like-minded economies.

Third, Taiwan is promoting a human-centered approach to artificial intelligence to help realize APEC's shared vision. Lai said the government is advancing its "Ten Major AI Infrastructure Projects" and "Health Taiwan" initiatives to support digital health and sustainable governance across the region.

Lin, who also chairs Taiwania Capital, a government-backed venture capital firm, said he will engage actively with APEC leaders and business representatives during the Oct. 31 to Nov. 1 summit to show that Taiwan is a responsible, trustworthy and benevolent partner.

He noted that South Korea, this year's APEC host, has prioritized AI and demographic change, themes that align closely with Taiwan's long-term policies.

As a key player in semiconductors, digital technology, and small and medium enterprise development, Lin said Taiwan has both the ability and the responsibility to contribute to regional prosperity and sustainability.
