Taipei, Oct. 8 (CNA) A total of 194 foreign dignitaries will take part in this year's Republic of China (Taiwan) National Day celebrations, including three delegations from Taiwan's diplomatic allies -- Belize, Saint Lucia and Paraguay -- according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Wednesday.

The guests include 120 members of visiting foreign delegations and 74 foreign representatives currently stationed in Taiwan, along with their spouses, MOFA said in a statement.

Among the visiting delegates, 55 are from the Asia-Pacific region, 26 from Latin America and the Caribbean and 17 from Europe. The group also includes 16 foreign journalists and six representatives from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), of which Taiwan has been a non-regional member since 1992.

The delegations from Taiwan's diplomatic allies will be led by Governor-General of Belize Dame Froyla Tzalam, Governor-General of Saint Lucia Sir Cyril Errol Melchiades Charles, and Raúl Luis Latorre Martínez, president of Paraguay's Chamber of Deputies, MOFA said.

Also attending the National Day celebrations and related events will be a Swedish parliamentary delegation, a group of participants in the European Valued Important Partnership Initiative, and a delegation of Japanese local political leaders, the ministry added.
