Lee Teng-hui dies; pivotal figure in Taiwan's transition to democracy
Taipei, July 30 (CNA) Lee Teng-hui (李登輝), who guided Taiwan through a rapid and peaceful transition to democracy while serving as Taiwan's president from 1988 to 2000, has died at the age of 97.
