A petition calling for a national referendum on whether Taiwan should compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics under the name "Taiwan" instead of "Chinese Taipei" has gathered more than the required number of signatures to put it on a public ballot, the Central Election Committee (CEC) said Monday.
