Proposal to replace DPP's Taiwan independence platform shot down

A proposal to replace the Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) previous pro-Taiwan independence resolutions with a provision stressing the maintenance of the status quo across the Taiwan Strait was vetoed at the party's annual congress Sunday.
