Tsai Ing-wen, chairwoman and presidential candidate of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), said on Saturday that her DPP administration would use the national defense budget to promote the development of defense-related technologies in such fields as aeronautics, submarine building and information security, if she wins the presidential election next year.
