CNN names Tainan one of world's best travel destinations for 2024

Taipei, Jan. 7 (CNA) The travel website CNN Travel recently selected Tainan as one of the 24 best travel destinations globally for 2024, praising the southern Taiwan city for having exceptional cuisine and remarkable natural attractions.

"Celebrating its 400th anniversary in 2024, Tainan has become a Taiwan hotspot on the international stage," CNN Travel said in a Jan. 2 report, explaining that the city has surpassed Taipei to boast the highest overall hotel occupancy rate in Taiwan over the past two years.

Tainan is considered the street food capital of Taiwan and is loved for its beef soup and oyster omelets, while there are also otherworldly natural landscapes such as Tsao Shan Moon World, scenic salt farms, old temples and special museums, it said.

Other destinations CNN featured include the Black Sea coast in Turkey, the Trans Dinarica Cycle Route in the Balkans, the Abrolhos Islands off the coast of Western Australia, and fresh-water springs in Florida, the United States.

Sharing the CNN list on Sunday, the Tainan City government said the city was also included in Booking.com's top 10 sustainable tourism destinations in 2023 and in National Geographic Traveler's "The Cool List 2024," with the latter featuring 30 holiday locations worldwide.
