Pop singer Lady Gaga, who just concluded her Taiwan visit, is  described as an American sex symbol of a new generation, in the mold  of Marilyn Monroe in the 1950s and Madonna in the 1980s. Although all  three women are iconic of their times, they project very different  types of aesthetic appeal and values. While Monroe was subtle and  Madonna is versatile, Lady Gaga has a free and casual sex appeal.
