Taiwan to soon open 1st geothermal plant powered by volcano

Taiwan is preparing to launch commercial operation of its first geothermal power plant that draws energy from a volcano, with the capacity to provide electricity to some 1,500 households in New Taipei where it is located, the city government said Tuesday.
