Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the world's largest contract chipmaker, on Tuesday announced that the low yield rate of silicon wafers produced at its 14B fab in Tainan, southern Taiwan was caused by substandard photo-resistant materials.
