EVA Air to launch Taipei-Houston flights in June 2015

Taipei, Dec. 8 (CNA) EVA Airways (EVA), one of Taiwan's leading airlines, announced Monday that it will launch three weekly round-trip flights between Taoyuan International Airport and Houston, Texas, beginning June 19, 2015.

The airline said it hopes the new route will expand its market base to the southern United States. EVA's U.S. coverage currently includes New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Guam.

North America is a major market for EVA's long-haul flight services, which are typically at 80-90 percent capacity. The airline is also scheduled to launch a service to Chicago in 2016.

The flights to Houston will be provided initially every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, the airline said, adding that an additional service will operate every Tuesday from July 1.

They will use Boeing 777-300ER jets, configured to seat 333 passengers each, according to the carrier.
