Former university president Mei Ko-wan dies at age 98

Taipei, April 1 (CNA) Mei Ko-wan (梅可望), former president of Tunghai University, passed away Friday morning at the age of 98.

Emergency services were called in at 6:34 a.m. for Mei, who was living in faculty housing in Taichung, but he had no vital signs and his family refused resuscitation.

Mei had a PhD from Michigan State University and served as president of Tunghai University from 1978 to 1992.

He was also president of Central Police University and served in the Youth Development Administration and the National Defense Ministry.

Over the years, he taught at National Taiwan University, National Taiwan Normal University, National Chung Hsing University and Chinese Culture University.
