Belize Senate leader visits Taiwan to mark 30 years of diplomatic ties

Taipei, April 22 (CNA) The president of the Belizean Senate Lee Mark Chang arrived in Taiwan Monday to mark the 30th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations and to help establish a Taiwan-Belize Parliamentary Friendship Group, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

Leading a four-member delegation, Chang is scheduled to meet with President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文), attend a banquet hosted by Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) and meet with Belizeans in Taiwan, MOFA said in press release.

The delegation will also visit sites of interest such as the Agricultural Biotechnology Park in Pingtung, Tungkang Biotechnology Research Center, and Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area, according to MOFA.

During the five-day visit, a Taiwan-Belize Parliamentary Friendship Group will be established, in recognition of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, MOFA said.

Chang is Belize's first ethnic Chinese senator, according to MOFA.
