Cabinet names new deputy defense minister
Taipei, Oct. 22 (CNA) Taiwan's representative to Indonesia Andrew Hsia has been named the country's new deputy defense minister, the Cabinet said in a statement Tuesday.
Hsia will fill the post vacated by Andrew Yang in August when he was promoted to defense minister before resigning six days later.
There had been concerns that no one would be willing to assume the post, which has been vacant for more than two months.
When questioned about the issue earlier this month at a legislative committee hearing, Defense Minister Yen Ming said an appointee would be named soon.
It was not immediately clear who will be named to replace Hsia in Indonesia.
