Taipei, Nov. 17 (CNA) Ben Yuen (袁富華) won the best supporting actor award for his role in "Tracey" (翠絲) at the 55th Golden Horse Awards, held Saturday at National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei.

Yuen, a Hong Kong native who made his film debut in 1995, thanked on-camera and behind-the-scenes colleagues for helping him with his performance and his many mentors growing up.

He beat out four other nominees for the supporting actor award, including Lee Hong-chi (李鴻其), Cheng Jen-shuo (鄭人碩), Zhang Yu (章宇) and Tian Zhuang-zhuang (田壯壯).

"Tracey" tells the story of a 51-year-old married man and father whose craving for feminization leads him to transition from male to female both mentally and physically.

The Golden Horse Awards ceremony, Taiwan's equivalent to the Oscars, is one of the most prestigious film events in the Chinese-speaking world.
