Taipei, May 5 (CNA) American travel writer Janice Lintz has described Taiwan as a must-see destination for all globetrotters and she listed seven main tourist attractions in the country, including its food culture.

In an article published Monday on the U.S. news site The Huffington Post, Lintz said Taiwan is not a typical destination for Westerners, yet it is popular with Chinese visitors.

Taiwan is emerging as the next international tourist destination, Lintz said, listing what she called seven compelling reasons why it should be on the bucket list of international travelers.

First, enticing chefs are changing the food scene. In addition to Din Tai Fung, a full-fledged restaurant specializing in soup dumplings and noodles, there are numerous restaurants in Taipei that offer more than dumplings, oyster omelets and Bao buns, the writer said, referring to the buns at Jiang Tai Tai Bao Bun shop.

She also recommended Andre Chiang's RAW restaurant, saying that the chef has returned home to his native Taiwan from Singapore and Paris and his Michelin level restaurant has a “cool and casual downtown vibe.”

Second, boutique and luxury hotels have entered the market, Lintz noted. The luxurious Mandarin Hotel Taipei is the newest entry to the market, she said.

Moreover, there are fascinating sites to see, such as the 200- year old Mengjia Longshan Temple and Xingtian Temple, the National Palace Museum, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Cihu Memorial Sculpture Park and Cihu Presidential Burial Place, the travel writer said.

The article also cited Wistaria Tea House as another reason for tourists to visit Taiwan.

The staff there usually "happily demonstrates the proper way to prepare and serve tea, a process of showing Taiwan's tea culture," Lintz wrote.

Affordable and delicious delicacies at night markets, extensive and inexpensive transportation and easy excursions via public transportation were cited as the other reasons that make Taiwan a bucket-list destination.

Lintz is an American travel/consumer education writer whose work has been published on Yahoo Travel, The Huffington Post and JohnnyJet.
