Entertainer Cindy commits suicide

Taipei, April 22 (CNA) The model and celebrity Cindy (楊又穎), a TV host and movie actress, was found at her residence Tuesday in what police described the following day as an apparent suicide.

Cindy, 24, used to host the variety show "Love Player (愛玩咖)" between 2011 and 2013 and just recently starred in the movie "First of May (五月一號)".

Daughter of former Council of Agriculture head Peng Tso-kwei (彭作奎), Cindy, whose real name is Peng Hsin-yi (彭馨逸), was found dead at her residence, along with a helium bottle and a farewell letter, police said.

According to the police, Cindy said in the note that she had been bullied at work. Her family members, meanwhile, said they will hold a press conference Thursday in which they will address the suicide.

Many of Cindy's colleagues have extended their condolences, including TV host Tao Ching-ying (陶晶瑩) and "First of May" director Chou Ke-tai (周格泰).

Tao, who worked with Cindy on the variety show "University," posted on her Facebook page: "Don't heed the haters but don't ignore those who love you."

The news also shocked Cindy's fans, who have flooded online with messages of remembrance for the entertainer.
