Taipei, Aug. 29 (CNA) Changhua County Magistrate Wei Ming-ku (魏明谷) visited the Abeno redevelopment area in southern Osaka on Monday as part of his current trip in Japan.

Wei said Changhua is trying to learn from Abeno's experience, which will be used in the county's efforts to promote urban renewal and improve residents' living environment.

According to Changhua's Department of Economic Affairs, Abeno is Osaka's southern gateway, with 760,000 commuters passing through the area every day.

Since 1976, 29 new high-rise buildings have been constructed under the Abeno Redevelopment Project, which spans 28 hectares, the department said.

Leading a business delegation, Wei arrived in Japan on Sunday to promote trade and investment in Changhua. He will also visit Tokyo before returning to Taiwan on Sept. 3.
