Four wounded in knife attack at Taipei Metro Zhongshan station (update)

Taipei, July 20 (CNA) Four people were wounded in a random knife attack at the Taipei subway system's Zhongshan Station in downtown Taipei on Monday, police and firefighters said.

A knife-wielding man was subdued, and the four wounded -- one man and three women -- were rushed to nearby Mackay Memorial Hospital, police said.

The three women, ages ranging from 31 to 50, suffered cuts of 1 to 2 cm in the back or shoulder while the man, aged 37, sustained a cut of 2 cm in the left shoulder, hospital sources said.

Police was investigating a man, aged about 20, who used a Swiss knife in the attack.
